30 September 2001 : Kingston Mosque held an Open Day for all residents of Kingston to come and see what the Mosque looks like and to learn more about Islam and Muslims. It was a successful event with several dignitaries (Yusuf Islam, Mayor Jeremy Thorn, Baroness Sarah Ludford) attending the event. See the event in photos.

8 June 2001 : Edward Davey, MP for Kingston and Surbiton thanked the Muslim community for supporting him in the General Election.
9 May 2001 : Mayor of Kingston Cllr Shiraz Mirza placed a plaque on the minaret marking the occasion of the opening of the minaret in January. In attendance to greet him were members of the Mosque Executive Committee and a senior officer of the Kingston Council. See the event in photos.
3 March 2001 (8 Dhul Hijjah 1421): Eid celebrations will begin on Monday and Tuesday - the Islamic Cultural Centre, London, and the Council of Mosques, London & Southern Counties, have announced that Eid prayers will be conducted on Monday 5th March. A number of mosques in the UK, including some members of the UK Ruiyate Hilal committee are celebrating Eid on Tuesday 6th March.
13 January 2000 : Kingston Mayor Shiraz Mirza performed the opening of the Minaret in the presence of the Kingston Muslim Association Executive Committee members and various councillors from the Borough. It was well attended. The opening was followed by speeches from the Mayor, Ed Davey MP and Taha Qureshi. See the event in photos. Also see news article on Kingston Council's Web Site.
22 Dec 2000 : Kingston Mayor Shiraz Mirza and Kingston Council Chief Executive Bruce McDonald sent a joint message of goodwill to all Muslims in the borough on the eve of the special celebration of Eid ul-Fitr. Cllr Mirza said: "I felt it was important to convey my good wishes as Mayor to promote racial harmony and understanding in the borough."
Nov 2000 : Kingston Mosque awarded permissison to extend Minaret height to 12m.
Events :
?? December 2001 (Night of 27 Ramadhan). Insha-Allah,
the Quran recitation will be finished in the Taraweh on ??? night. There will
a speech (lecture) on the aspects and importance of Lailatul Qadr after Taraweh
on that night. All are encouraged to stay and listen. For those staying the
night in the mosque, Suhoor (Sehri) has been arranged.
All are reminded that one should be doing Zikr, reciting Quran, praying Nafl
namaz during this night.
9 May 2001. Kingston Mayor Cllr Shiraz Mirza will place a plaque on the Minaret / Clock Tower commemorating the opening of the Minaret in January 2001 (see above). This event will happen on the 9th May 2001 at 2.30 p.m.. All Muslims are requested to attend and participate in this event.
